The word BIHAR comes from vihar which means residential place of monks.The state Bihar falls in the eastern part of India. and is state is surrounded by Nepal in the north, West Bengal in the east, Uttar Pradesh in the west and Jharkhand in the south. The state is massively benefitted from its unique specific location appararently because of
1. its nearness to the vast markets of eastern and northern India
2. accessibility to important trading ports e.g. Kolkata and Haldia and
3. accessibility to sources of raw material sources 
4. accessibilty to mineral reserves from the neighboring states.
Economically, the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Bihar grew at a CAGR of 11.99 percent between 2011-12 and 2017-18. More appropriately, Bihar's per capita GSDP increased from US$ 490.62 in 2011-12 to US$ 655.42 in 2017-18 at CAGR of 10.25 percent.
Agriculturally, Bihar is one of the important and valuable agricultural states. About 80 percent of population still depends upon agriculture and its productivity for the livelihood. these digits are much higher than the national average.
When it comes to vegetable production, Bihar ranks fourth,
and it has achieved eighth position when it comes to fruit production.
In recent scenario, the fast growing industries in the state are found to be food processing, dairy, sugar, manufacturing, and healthcare. The state government has come forward to develop the sectors like education, health, tourism. The government has also announced to grant incentives for information technology and renewable energy.
Total FDI for Bihar & Jharkhand, between April 2000 and June 2018, stood at US$ 113 million.
