INTRODUCTION

India has now become fourth country to launch its own anti-satellite missile test successfully. This glorifies India’s position charismatically in global arena. The launch is not just important for security purpose but it proves India’s technological advancements to the world too. This launch will also enhance our strategic development.

Anti –satellite missile becomes important because we massively depend upon satellite for agriculture, economy, defence, education, communication etc.

The mission has been successful because of tireless hardwork of the team DRDO plus ISRO.

DEFINITION

MISSION SHAKTI

Mission Shakti is the name given to the successful test of Anti-Satellite Missile launch this 27 March 2019. This mission will multiply the defense system of India in the land, water, and air. As of now, such capabilities have been owned by only three countries of the world I.e. USA, Russia and China.
India becomes the fourth successful entrant in this group. Also, it proves how much is India concerned for its defense and security growth and technological progress.

What actually is Anti- Satellite Weapon??

Anti- Satellite Weapon is a kind of space weapon that will help in the destruction of a satellite in low earth orbit up to a height of 2000 km.it is represented by the acronym A- SAT. Their utility is seen during space warfare to attack targets that travel from space to the earth.

What significance does Mission Shakti bear?

First of all, it elevated India’s position globally in the field of defense and technology acquisition because before this herculean task had been done by the United States of America, Russia, and China
Secondly, this modernized technology has given an extra edge to the Indian security and defense system.
Thirdly, the entire effort and the integrated approach to make Mission Shakti was indigenous i.e Indian in nature.
Bring down enemy countries’ satellite in minutes.
Maim infrastructure of other country.

Why we needed Mission Shakti?

To demonstrate our space related skills and ability with which we can secure our boundaries and attack on others if required.
It will enhance our security, economic and social sectors of growth and development.
It will work against weaponisation of outer space.

CHALLENGES

Such launches are bound to create debris in the space. These debris are fragmented parts of satellites. These remains forever in space if they are not brought down on the earth or allowed to decay.
If such debris gets accumulated so much into the space , there arises greater chances of collision.
And collision can destroy a functional satellites or rocket or its part and make it useless.

WAY FORWARD

India is growing economy that needs to protect its boundaries in all possible way. But this should not be used against any country or breach the law made by international organisations. Definitely achievements like this adds to strength of India but we need to make purposeful use of it.
Now that we have demonstrated our intelligence and ability to the world, we need to work more hard to create all possible technological and strategic developments so that our success grows by leaps and bounds and we get enlisted to developed countries.
