MUKHYAMANTRI KANYA SURAKSCHA YOJANA

´With the objective to check the foeticide of a girl child, improve the sex ratio and encourage registration of birth, Government of Bihar has launched a Scheme called “Mukhya Mantri Kanya Suraksha Yojana”. (LAUNCHED YEAR-2008)
´Under the Mukhya Mantri Kanya Suraksha Yojana, Government of Bihar contributes Rs.2000/- for every Girl Child belonging to the BPL category and born on or after November 22, 2007.
´The benefit of the Yojana is limited to two girls per family falling below the poverty line. The amount of Rs.2000/- has been invested by Women Development Corporation, Patna, Bihar on behalf of Government of Bihar in Fixed Deposits in UCO & IDBI Banks.
´On completion of 18 years, the amount equal to the maturity value will be paid to the girl child.
´In case of death of girl child during the intervening period, the amount will be paid back to Women Development Corporation, Bihar.
´The scheme completed third year of its implementation this year. During the last three years, Mukhyamantri Kanya Suraksha Yojana of Government of Bihar has benefitted around 15 lakh girl children born in BPL families. 
 
´Mukhya Mantri Kanya Suraksha Yojana launched by Directorate of Social Welfare, Bihar Government to avoids female foeticide, encourage the birth of girl child, bring about a balance between sex ratio of girls and boys and encourages registration of birth by incentivizing birth of a girl child in the family.
´The Scheme is being started in collaboration with the Unit Trust of India.
´Nodal Agency:
´The Anganwadi Center in the respective locality has been made the major unit for the implementation of this Scheme.
´Eligibility:
´Applicant should be BPL family.
´The girl child is born after November 22, 2011. The benefit is provided to only two girl child born after this date.
´Birth registration of the girl child should have taken place within one a year after the birth.
´The age of the girl child should not have exceeded three years.
